Grania McKirdie

Hi! I’m Grania McKirdie. I pride myself on my commitment and enthusiasm to my work as a theatre-maker. I find particular enjoyment combining my passions of art and activism, working on pieces that address the inequities and injustices of our society, and wrestling with flawed female characters. As an artist, I strive to better understand what it means to be human, celebrate both the mundane and the extraordinary, and embrace messy- something I’m always working on.

Grania McKirdie is a senior pursuing a BFA in Acting at the University of   Illinois as an Evans Scholar. Illinois Shakespeare Festival credits include The Book of Will (Crier), The Tempest (Boatswain/Spirit), and Toss Me A Tempest (Caliban). Illinois Theatre credits include Armory Free Theatre’s production of Macbitches (Rachel), and mainstage productions of Rent (Maureen), Sweat (Tracey), Urinetown (Officer Lockstock), and Coriolanus (Citizen #2). Other on campus credits include Into the Woods (Baker’s Wife) and Little Women (Aunt March) with Illini Student Musicals and Twelfth Night (Malvolio) with the What You Will Shakespeare Company. Grania is a proud graduate of The Chicago Academy for the Arts where some of her credits include Macbeth (Macbeth), Everybody (Everybody), The Wolves (#14), Columbinus (Rebel), King Lear (Gloucester), Sense and Sensibility (Margaret), and Sunday in the Park with George (Yvonne).
